Accommodation for Cyclists in Perthshire

Queens View, near Pitlochry The Bankfoot Inn is ideally placed for cyclists wishing to explore the abundant Perthshire countryside. We're on Route 77 and can cater for cyclists doing the end-to-end (Lands End to John O'Groats) journey. From our door, cyclists can travel on many quiet, rural roads passing through some of the most magnificent country in Scotland. Perthshire is known as "Big Tree Country" and we have some of the biggest and oldest trees in Europe.

Route 77 National Route 77 of the National Cycle Network runs between Dundee and Pitlochry, via Perth. The route offers a mix of on-road cycling and quiet cycle paths. The overall route lets the cyclist experience some of the greatest scenery in Perthshire. The Bankfoot Inn lies on this route.

The Salmon Run
The River Tay is Scotland's mightiest river, and the longest at 120 miles. It is famous the world over for the quality its record-breaking salmon. Following Route 77 for 54 miles, follow the winding course of the River Tay between Dundee and Pitlochry. For most of the way the route uses quiet country lanes and dedicated cycle paths, but with a few short off-road sections. At Pitlochry, you can visit the famous "fish ladder", a series of connected pools allowing salmon to climb the gradient past the dam and on in to the reservoir.
